Mature Casual Safety: Stay Private, Meet With Confidence

Grown-up fun goes better when you decide what people see, where you meet and when you leave.

Enjoy yourself, and stay in charge

Coming back to dating after a marriage or a long relationship can feel like walking into a party where the rules changed while you were away. Apps, profile photos, people you have never met suggesting a drink. The good news is that staying safe is mostly common sense with a few modern habits added, and the controls on your profile let you decide who sees what.

Below are the controls you have on every plan, then the advice we would give a friend: how to spot a dating scam, how to set up a first meet, and how to look after your sexual health without any awkwardness.

Five controls that keep you in charge

What you can do on every plan, Classic or VIP.

  • A username, not your name

Your profile shows a username. Your real name and email address never appear on it.

Why it helpsYour name cannot lead anyone to your social media or your workplace.

  • Your nearest town, not your address

Other members see your nearest town or city, never your street or your exact address.

Why it helpsYour home stays your own business until you choose otherwise.

  • Photos you choose

You decide which photos go on your profile, and whether your face is one of them.

Why it helpsYou can start discreetly and show more once you trust someone.

  • Block anyone

Block someone from their profile or from your conversation with them.

Why it helpsYou decide who gets your attention, and nobody is owed an explanation.

  • Report anyone

Report a profile or a conversation from the profile itself or from the chat.

Why it helpsAnyone who asks for money, pushes after a no or sends what you did not ask for can be reported on the spot.

Spot a dating scam before it costs you anything

Scammers go looking for people who seem recently single and a little lonely, and they are patient. The warning signs rarely change: declarations of feeling within days, a job overseas or on an oil rig, excuses every time you suggest a video call, and sooner or later a request for money, a gift card or your bank details.

Other red flags: a push to move the chat to WhatsApp or email in the first few messages, photos that look like a magazine shoot (a reverse image search often shows whose they really are), and a link to another site that wants your card details. If something feels off, trust that feeling: stop replying, block them and report the profile. If you have already sent money, call your bank straight away.

A first date that feels easy from the start

  1. Keep chatting on Mature Casual until you feel sure, and suggest a quick video call before you agree to meet.
  2. Choose somewhere public for the first meeting: a hotel bar, a busy pub or a café you already know.
  3. Get yourself there and home again, and let a friend know where you will be and when.
  4. Keep the first date short. If the attraction is there, there is always a second.
  5. Never lend or send money to someone you have not met, however moving the story.

Sexual health and consent, handled like grown-ups

Casual sex is more fun when nobody is worrying about the morning after. Carry condoms and use them with new partners: they are the only contraception that also protects against most sexually transmitted infections. NHS sexual health clinics test in confidence without charging you, and many areas post testing kits to your door. A check-up between new partners is simply good manners. Pregnancy is still possible around the menopause, so NHS advice is to keep using contraception until a year after your last period if you are over 50, or two years if you are under 50.

Consent works the same at 55 as it does at 25. Agree what you both want before things heat up, check in as they do, and take a change of mind as an answer rather than a challenge. Either of you can stop at any point, and a good partner in bed makes that easy.

Straight answers on staying private and safe

Is Mature Casual safe to use?

You decide what people see: your profile shows a username and your nearest town, never your name, email or address, and you choose every photo. You can block or report anyone from their profile or a conversation. Pair that with the first-meet habits on this page and you have the essentials covered.

Can I keep my face off my profile?

Yes. You choose which photos to add, so you can start without a face photo and show more once you trust someone.

How do I block or report someone?

Do it from their profile or from your conversation with them. Block anyone you simply want gone, and report anyone who asks for money, keeps pushing after a no or sends something you did not ask for.

How can I tell if someone is a scammer?

Watch for big declarations of feeling within days, a reason they can never video call, a push to move to WhatsApp early, and any request for money, gift cards or bank details. One of those is enough to stop replying, block and report.
